#Thea render review software

I know software especially 3D rendering software is VERY complicated. There’s really nothing to argue about here. The Octane 3 alpha has been available for weeks and is super promising. Stefan and crew are working at this and have added assistance from Chaosgroup on some things. I totally get being frustrated - I’ve been waiting for Vray RT for so long I can’t remember not needing it desperately - but I also know that this stuff is hard. Good coders are expensive and testing takes time. Doing software and making money at it is harder. I guess here’s my general response: Software is hard. Do the ole “we’re working hard and will release this in 201N.” But then if you’re a year away, freakin’ say so. Not just these guys, all kinds of tech companies. It’s a dishonest business practice that has become normal on the internet and people need to cut that shit out. I get that it takes time and stuff happens to the roadmap (new core, etc) but stop misleading people just to get some marketing points. I think they’ve been saying “very soon / almost” for literally a year or more at this point. V-Ray for C4D isn’t in much better a boat. Vaporware should be a minor criminal offense. It borders on dishonest when companies announce a product and nine months later it’s still not that close to being released (most likely).

Waiting (and waiting) for Otoy to ship Octane 3 or at a minimum post more definitive information on the tech / systems it will leverage to do its magic.
